Babylon Festival for International Cultures and Arts

Babylon Festival for international cultures and Arts is regarded as the greatest Iraqi cultural event since its Foundation in 2011 by the poet Dr. Ali Al-shalah the chief of Babylon house for cultures , Arts and Media . It's previous name was " Mesopotamia Cultural Institution " . The vision of the festival was to gather all topics of culture and arts such as poetry, narration , music , theatre , cinema , plastic art , literary dialogues and intellectual dialogues , in addition to the solemn folklore events . The first session of the festival was held in 2012 with special approval of the prime minister and the general secretariat of the council of ministers .
Despite the security conditions in the country including the facing of ISIS terrorism , the festival was able to establish a distinguished presence in the Iraqi , Arab and international scene because of the sobriety of its events and the importance of names participating in it .The terrorists tried to target the festival in two sessions, where the heroic security forces arrested one of the terrorists while trying to survey the sites of the festival . Al-Athar checkpoint (near the location of festival) also subjected to a great terrorist operation a few days before the fourth session of the festival, which led to postpone the festival events after the occasion of "Al-Arbaeen" which means passing of forty days after The Killing of that painful incident martyrs . Terrorists didn't succeed in stopping this great Festival because the culture of life always triumphs over the culture of death .The success of the festival and it's great public presence continued which led UNESCO to send its first greeting letter to the sixth session and second letter to the eighth session as well . The festival also was praised by large number of cultural artistic figures and various institutions .

مهرجان بابل للثقافات والفنون العالمية

يعدُ هذا المهرجان هو الفعالية الثقافية العراقية الاكبر منذ تأسيسه عام 2011م من قبل الشاعر الدكتور علي الشلاه رئيس دار بابل للثقافات والفنون والاعلام (مؤسسة بلاد النهرين الثقافية حينها ) وقد كانت رؤية المهرجان الجمع بين الفنون والآداب جميعها من الشعر والسرد والموسيقى والمسرح والسينما والتشكيل والحوارات الادبية والفكرية والفنية اضافة الى الفعاليات الفلكلورية الرصينة .

وقد عُقدت الدورة الاولى منه 2012 م بموافقة خاصة من رئاسة الوزراء والامانة العامة لمجلس الوزراء ورغم الظروف الامنية في البلد ومواجهته بالارهاب الداعشي الا ان المهرجان استطاع ان يؤسس لنفسه حضوراً متميزاً في المشهد الثقافي العراقي والعربي والدولي نظراً لرصانة فعالياته واهمية الاسماء المشاركة فيه .

وقد حاول الارهابيون استهداف المهرجان في دورتين من دوراته حيث القت القوات الامنية البطلة القبض على احد الارهابين وهو يحاول استطلاع مواقع فعاليات المهرجان كما تعرضت سيطرة الآثار لعملية ارهابية كبيرة قُبيل ايامِ من انعقاد الدورة الرابعة للمهرجان مما ادى الى تأجيلها لما بعد اربعينية الشهداء اللذين سقطوا في هذا الحادث الأليم ولم ينجح الارهابيون في ايقاف هذا المهرجان الكبير لأن ثقافة الحياة تنتصرُ دائماً على ثقافة الموت .

لقد تواصلت نجاحات المهرجان وحضوره الجماهيري الكبير مما جعل منظمة اليونسكو الاممية توجه رسالتي تحيةٍ له الاولى في دورته السادسة والثانية في دورته الثامنة كما حضي المهرجان بثناء عدد كبير من الشخصيات الثقافية والفنية والمؤسسات المختلفة .
